Fasting can bring us many benefits. Physically, we are discovering how it can help us improve our health. But, we also have a plethora of spiritual benefits for us to reflect upon. Below is a list of some of the benefits we can obtain during this Month.
1 - Self-awareness
When we control our food and drink intake, our senses are heightened. This allows us to be more connected to ourselves, from our speech, to our thoughts and ideas. Understanding ourselves better gives us a better direction and allows us to make better decisions.
2 - Relationship with the Quran
It was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. By reciting Quran more regularly, we have a better opportunity to understand the Words of Allah.
Try to invest in your time by learning Quran online or offline
3 - Charity
One of the virtues of fasting in the month of Ramadan is our eagerness to give to those who are suffering, domestically and around the world. The Prophet was the most generous in the month of Ramadan.Charity never decreases our wealth, we are always recompensed as Allah has promised, and this can be in many facets of our lives.
4 - Strengthening social ties
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says: “Whoever gives Iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” [Ibn Majah]
Do not forget to contact your relatives and friends to wish them a happy Ramadan.
5 - Balance between Body and Soul
Another thing is that man is a mixture between body and soul. When he exceeds in fulfilling the needs of his body over his soul, he spoils this soul. Thus, it is Allah’s Mercy to guide man to the way of his true happiness and salvation through making the balance needed between the body and the soul.
May Allah accept our fasts and Prayers.
